And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 Until when he cometh unto Us, he will say. Ah! would that there had been between me and thee, the distance of the east and the west an evil companion 38 (It will be said to them) “And you will not benefit from them this day, whereas you are unjust – for you are all partners in the punishment.” 39 What! can you then make the deaf to hear or guide the blind and him who is in clear error? 40 But if We should take you away, still We shall inflict retribution on them; 41 Or show you some of what We have promised them. They are certainly well within Our power. 42 So hold thou fast to that which is inspired in thee. Lo! thou art on a right path. 43 It is indeed a Reminder to you and to your nation, and without doubt you shall be questioned. 44 And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped? 45
