The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
