Al-Qamar 2 of 3
The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
