The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
