Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
