The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
