He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
