And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Verily We, We sent upon them one shout, and they became as the stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 and early in the morning the punishment decreed overtook them -- 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
