Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: fear ye not? 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 so fear you God, and obey you me.' 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 "Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] in the midst of what you have here and now? 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill? 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 Do not follow those who are extravagant, 151 and spread mischief in the land rather than set things right." 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 Do not treat her unkindly or the punishment of a grievous day will fall on you." 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
