The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens with constellations, 1 by the promised day, 2 by the witness and the witnessed, 3 destroyed were the people of the trench, 4 [Containing] the fire full of fuel, 5 As they sat around it 6 And to that which they did to the believers were witnesses. 7 Against these they had no grudge except that they believed in Allah, the Most Mighty, the Most Praiseworthy, 8 Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. 9 Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning. 10 But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph. 11 Verily, (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) the Grip (Punishment) of your Lord is severe. 12 Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). 13 And He only is the Oft Forgiving, the Beloved of His bondmen. 14 the Owner of the Throne, the Glorious One, 15 The great doer of what He will. 16 HAS IT ever come within thy ken, the story of the [sinful] hosts 17 of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 The unbelievers are indeed engaged in denying it, calling it a lie, 19 but all the while God encompasses them [with His knowledge and might] without their being aware of it. 20 In fact it (what they deny) is the Noble Qur’an. 21 (Preserved) on the guarded tablet. 22
