Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In high empyrean 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
