The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
