The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
