Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the winds which carry dust particles, 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Woe to the liars 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
