The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 facing one another. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
