Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Travailing, worn. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 you are not their keeper. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
