The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! 1 no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 4 "Nay," they say: "[Muhammad propounds] the most involved and confusing of dreams!" "Nay, but he has invented [all] this!" - "Nay, but he is [only] a poet!" - [and,] "Let him, then, come unto us with a miracle, just as those [prophets] of old were sent [with miracles]?" 5 Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 And We made them not bodies not eating food; nor were they to be abiders. 8 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
