Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
