'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
