Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the dawn; 1 and ten nights (of pilgrimage or the last ten days of Ramadan), 2 And the even and the odd, 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Is there in that an oath for a mindful man? 5 Bethinkest thou not in what wise thy Lord did with the 'A'ad: 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 The like of which was not built in the cities, 8 And the tribe of Thamud, who hewed rocks in the valley. 9 And the mighty Pharaoh 10 Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah). 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. 13 Indeed nothing is hidden from the sight of your Lord. 14 As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me." 15 But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me. 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. 19 And ye love riches with exceeding love. 20 But no; when the earth is ground to powder, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: would that I had sent before for this life of mine! 24 None can punish as He will punish on that day, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His! 26 (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 So enter among My servants, 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
