He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
