The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
