Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
