And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 so that they might eat of its fruit and the labor of their hands. Will they not give thanks? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! they are in the dark; 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 We have appointed stages for the moon till it returns in the shape of a dry old branch of palm-tree. 39 It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night surpass the day; and each one of them floats in its orbit. 40 And an Ayah (sign) for them is that We bore their offspring in the laden ship [of Nuh (Noah)]. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 Had We wanted, We could have drowned them and nothing would have been able to help or rescue them 43 Unless by mercy from Us, and as a comfort for a while. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 Never does any Sign of their Lord come to them, but they turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them, 'Expend of that God has provided you,' the unbelievers say to the believers, 'What, shall we feed such a one whom, if God willed, He would feed? You are only in manifest error!' 47 They say: “When will this threat (of Resurrection) come to pass? Tell us if indeed you are truthful.” 48 They await but one Shout, which will surprise them while they are disputing. 49 No (chance) will they then have, by will, to dispose (of their affairs), nor to return to their own people! 50
