He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
