Have you seen the one who turned away 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
