The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right hand; 38
