۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?" 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
