The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
