The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
