In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 and the severally severing 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 [promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning! 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 Heavens will rent asunder. 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 until an appointed time? 22 See that We had the power to do so. Great indeed is Our power to do what We will. 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 So like golden camels." 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word, 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 On that day, woe would be those who have rejected God's revelations! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' 39 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 40
