The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
