Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By the sun and its noon-time brightness, 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
