The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
