He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
