The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
