The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
