S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. 1 Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 And they marvel that a warner from among themselves hath come unto them, and the disbelievers say: This is a wizard, a charlatan. 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 There was none of them but called the apostles liars, so just was My retribution. 14
