A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is nothing but a man who has forged against Allah a lie, we will never believe him' 38 The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying." 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
