The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
