The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
