The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
