And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 no caring friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
