And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
