And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
