The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
