The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
