The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 A just Book, to warn of Allah’s severe punishment, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good deeds, that for them is an excellent reward. 2 and they will live for ever therein. 3 and to warn those who say, 'God has taken to Himself a son'; 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie. 5 Perhaps you may destroy yourself with grief if they do not believe in this message. 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth an adornment for it, in order that We try which of them is finest in works. 7 And verily! We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees, etc.). 8 Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? 9 When the young men took refuge in the Cave – then said, “Our Lord! Give us mercy from Yourself, and arrange guidance for us in our affair.” 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 Then We woke them up again so that We might see which of the two groups would better calculate the time they had stayed there. 12
