Alshu'araa' 2 of 11
And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 The people of Fir'awn; fear they Me not? 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that 'Sustainer of all the worlds'?" 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 Said Firaun to those around him, “Are you not listening with attention?” 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 Said Firaun, “If you ascribe any one else as a God other than me, I will surely imprison you.” 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
