The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
